How to join

Not sure which group is right for your child? We’ll help you find a suitable starting point.

  1. Tell us about your child. Complete our enquiry form with your child’s age, any tennis experience and the days that work for you.
  2. Find the right group. We’ll review your enquiry and discuss a group suited to your child’s experience, confidence and stage of development, subject to availability.
  3. Confirm your place. Once a suitable space is agreed, we’ll send you the booking details, including the cost and how to pay.

If a group is full: we can discuss an alternative session or adding your child to the waiting list. Sending an enquiry does not reserve a place.

The groups are organised according to the LTA Youth framework, which is summarised here for you:

Blue — ages 4–6
A fun introduction to tennis through games and activities. Children build balance, coordination and confidence while learning to throw, catch and use a racket.

Red — ages 6–8
Players develop their rallying, serving and scoring skills on smaller courts with softer balls. Fun games help them learn the basics and enjoy playing with others.

Orange — ages 8–9
As the court gets bigger, players build more consistent shots and learn where to place the ball. Sessions introduce simple tactics alongside movement, teamwork and match play.

Green — ages 9–10
Players move onto a full-size court using a slower ball. Coaching develops technique, court coverage and tactical awareness, helping children become more confident and independent players.

Yellow — ages 11+
Full-court tennis with standard yellow balls. Players develop their shots, movement and match skills through enjoyable drills, games and friendly competition.

Age ranges are a guide. We’ll help you choose a group suited to your child’s experience, confidence and stage of development.

Common questions

Can my child join as a complete beginner?

Yes. Children are welcome whether they are picking up a racket for the first time or have played before. We’ll help you find a group suited to their age, experience and confidence.

Can my child try a session first?

Yes — all children are offered a free taster session. Enquire first so we can agree a suitable group and date, subject to availability.

Do they need their own racket?

No. Children are very welcome to borrow a racket, and we have plenty available for them to use.

What should they wear and bring?

Comfortable sports clothes, trainers and a bottle of water. For outdoor sessions, bring layers appropriate for the weather.

How much does coaching cost?

We’ll provide the current price and booking details for the suitable group when you enquire, so you have everything you need before booking.
