Meet Phil Harris

Hi, I’m Phil and I lead Tennis Teacher, providing friendly junior and adult coaching in Market Harborough and Great Bowden. Whether you’re picking up a racket for the first time, returning to tennis or looking to improve, I’ll help you find the right place to start.

I’ve been coaching tennis for over 20 years and am an LTA Level 4 Senior Club Coach. Alongside my work at Tennis Teacher, I’m the 14&U Leicestershire County Captain. In 2022, I won the Tennis Leicestershire Development Coach of the Year Award.

My coaching experience includes leading junior and adult programmes, organising club tournaments and supporting junior teams. Our sessions combine practical coaching with plenty of time to play, helping children build confidence and giving adults the chance to develop their game and meet other players.

We offer group coaching and individual lessons, with a free taster session and rackets to borrow for juniors. A professional restringing service is also available.

At Cardio Tennis, Phil gives us a fun 45 minute workout to lively music. Starting with a jog around the court for warm-up we then progress to various routines where we hit soft tennis balls. I've seen the group size vary from four, when the weather is bad, upto 12 on good days. There is no need to book a place - just show up. Phil will add you to his WhatsApp group if you would like to be informed of cancellations due to weather, etc.

Phil and the team have been coaching our daughter for a few years now. She really enjoys the sessions and we've seen a real improvement in her tennis. Would happily recommend them to anyone looking to improve their game.

We have known Phil for a number of years and he has been delivering weekly one to one coaching sessions over this time. He has a great skill at explaining things, meeting stamina and communication needs, and encouraging improvement.

Superb coach and an enormous asset to MH club. He runs numerous coaching sessions and the cardio is a great start to the day, he makes the workout meaningful but fun. On a personal note he has shown endless patience during private coaching sessions to get me back onto court after serious injury, I can’t thank and rate him highly enough!

Highly recommend Phil’s tennis lessons, they are a highlight of my daughter’s weekend. The lessons are fun, cover all the basics and the support is there to get involved in the club and in local tournaments to develop your game.

We’re really pleased with the tennis lessons. Our daughter absolutely loves them and always looks forward to her sessions. Her coach is friendly, encouraging and brilliant with the children. It’s lovely to see how much she enjoys the lessons and how much more confident she’s becoming. We’d highly recommend them!
